What Do Different Shift Colors Mean on the Schedule Calendar?
Learn why shifts may appear in different colors on the Schedule Calendar and where those colors can be changed.
Shift colors on the Schedule Calendar are colors assigned to the shifts. A light grey, dark grey, black, or other shift color does not by itself indicate a special status, Time Clock condition, or problem with the shift.
Where Do Shift Colors Come From?
Shift colors can be set in two ways:
- Specific Shift: A manager can change the color of an individual shift when creating or editing that shift.
- Shift Template: A color can also be assigned through the applicable Shift Template.
Because an individual shift's color can be changed, shifts created from the same Shift Template may not always appear in the same color.
Why Are Some Shifts Different Colors?
If some shifts are light grey while others are dark grey or another color, the shifts may simply have different colors assigned to them.
Review the color assigned to the specific shift and the color configured for the applicable Shift Template if you want the shifts to match.
A shift's color alone should not be used to determine whether the shift is:
- Published or unpublished
- Clocked in or clocked out
- Available or assigned
- Experiencing an error or other status
