Forecasting Staff Hours

If you need to forecast staff hours for budgeting purposes, you can use the Payroll Report in SubItUp. This report allows you to estimate scheduled labor hours for a specific time period, such as an upcoming semester.

How to Forecast Hours Using the Payroll Report

  1. In your navigation menu, go to Reports.

  2. Select Payroll Report.

  3. In the Report Options dropdown, uncheck the option:
    Use Time Clock Data

When this option is unchecked, the report will calculate hours based on scheduled shifts rather than recorded clock-in/out times.

This allows you to estimate planned labor hours for upcoming schedules.

Using the Report Before Publishing Schedules

The Payroll Report does include unpublished shifts when running off scheduled time.

This allows managers to run the report before publishing schedules to:

  • Ensure labor compliance

  • Verify hour limits for employees

  • Estimate payroll costs for an upcoming schedule or semester

This makes the report especially helpful for budget planning and schedule review before publishing shifts.
